Wabaseemoong Child Welfare Authority is searching for responsible individuals/couples to provide care for our children and youth for all ages up to 0yrs – 17yrs of age. There are two types of caregivers.

Customary Care Home Giver

Customary Care Home Givers provide care to a child in their own home as a stand-in parent and become a resource to WCWA for short/long-term and emergency placements.  As a stand-in parent, the caregiver will be responsible in acting as a life guide to the child(ren) and be responsible for the daily upkeep/care of the child’s medical, school, emotional, and cultural needs.

Live-in Caregiver

A Live-in Caregiver provides care in a WCWA owned home in Wabaseemoong and/or Kenora.  The agency provides furnished accomodations (heat and utilities paid), grocery allowance, per-diem, training, and respite.

Requirements:

  • The ability to communicate with children in a positive manner.
  • Provide a criminal and Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Sensitivity to cultural and spiritual needs of children/youth.
  • Willing to work as part of a team.
  • Familiar or willing to become knowledgable on Wabaseemoong’s Customary Care Code.

We are continuously accepting applications.  Interested individuals can email the Customary Care Homes Department here or call (807) 927-2222.
