About the Program

Workers assist with and oversee three main areas of youth goals and needs.

Areas include:

  • Basic needs
  • Education and training
  • Employment services

With the help of the workers in this area, youth gain a better understanding of independent living as well as gain meaningful employment and/or enrol in college or university. With the teachings and standards of the Wabaseemoong Child Welfare Authority Customary Care Code, the youth under our care will achieve independence and have every available transitional support that WCWA can offer.

Service Delivery

Basic Needs

  • Assisting in suitable housing and placements
  • Life skills development, such as food and meal planning
  • Clothing allowance allocation
  • Ensuring youth have access to Cultural supports and events

Education & Training

  • College and University applications assistance
  • High school / Co-op hours
  • Support in finding sources of funding and grant applications
  • Assisting in skills development surrounding independance (Budgeting expenses, grocery shopping & maintaining thier homes)

Employment Services

  • Resume and cover letter assistance
  • Skill building in time management
  • Skill building in interview & communication
  • Training / Certification (WHMIS, First Aid & CPR, etc.)
  • Assist in providing Equipment / Startup costs for employment
